About us

As per the decision taken by the assembly of a huge number of media academics and professionals on two occasions, At the 2019 International Conference on Media & Communication for Sustainable Development in Santiniketan and the National Media Conclave 2022 in Bhubaneswar, a trust was formed for organizing the common platform for faculty, professionals, and researchers across different domains of communication in the country. The trust was registered in the Additional Registrar of Assurances III Kolkata Office on 4th February 2023 as Nation Communication Congress Trust (NCCT) with headquarters in Santiniketan in West Bengal. This is as per the desire of the august body present in the open session of the National Media Conclave 2022 for establishing the Indian Communication Congress as the representative body in the field. Very senior academicians and professionals like Prof. K.V. Nagaraj, Prof. P. Chatterjee, Prof.B.P.Sanjay, Prof. Kiran Prasad, and Prof. G. Ravindran deliberated on ICC either during the 2019 or 2022 sessions for the purpose. ICC was launched on 4th February 2023 in a function at Kolkata Press Club amidst the presence of media persons, faculty, scholars, and students from West Bengal, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, and Odisha.

History & Background

Members of communication, extension, media and communication art faculty, professionals, industry and researchers felt for coming together to form a common country platform together for last fifty years. After many local, regional and domain specific formations, over last decade, the effort gained momentum.

As per the collective decision taken by a large assembly of media academics and professionals on two significant occasions — the International Conference on Media & Communication for Sustainable Development (2019) held at Santiniketan, and the National Media Conclave (2022) held at Bhubaneswar — a trust was conceptualized to establish a common national platform for faculty, professionals, and researchers across diverse domains of communication in India.

Consequently, the trust was formally registered at the Additional Registrar of Assurances III, Kolkata on 4th February 2023 under the name Nation Communication Congress Trust (NCCT), with its headquarters located at Santiniketan, West Bengal. This initiative was in direct response to the unanimous desire expressed by the august body present during the open session of the National Media Conclave 2022 to establish the Indian Communication Congress (ICC) as a representative national body in the field of communication studies.

Eminent academicians and media professionals including Prof. K. V. Nagaraj, Prof. P. Chatterjee, Prof. B. P. Sanjay, Prof. Kiran Prasad, and Prof. G. Ravindran deliberated extensively on the vision and framework of ICC during the 2019 and 2022 sessions.

Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)

Date Signed: February 11, 2025

NCCT, the body running the association, as per it's deed enters into formal understanding with different institutions to fulfill the vision. The first MoU was signed with Bridgewater State University(BSU),Massachusetts,USA On 11 February 2025 after a year long due diligence process. BSU being a premier teacher training university, our purpose of improving academics is served through this MoU. In 2025, an international Communication Faculty Development programme of ICC and BSU along with Karnataka State Journalism Teachers' Association was conducted online. 150 participants from across the globe were trained in the programme. ICC has few other MoUs in the pipeline.

Parties Involved

Bridgewater State University (BSU), Massachusetts, USA and the Indian Communication Congress (ICC Trust), India have entered into a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote academic collaboration, research exchange, and mutual development in the field of communication and media studies.

Purpose of the Agreement

The MoU aims to strengthen academic ties between the two institutions by facilitating cross-cultural learning, joint research, and professional exchange. It reflects the shared vision of both organizations to encourage innovation, interdisciplinary engagement, and global understanding in communication education.

  • Development of academic programs including joint degrees, workshops, and conferences
  • Exchange of faculty, researchers, and students for teaching, training, and collaborative study

Duration and Terms

The initial duration of the MoU extends for a period of five (5) years, with the option for renewal upon mutual agreement. Both institutions shall independently bear their respective costs related to collaborative activities under this agreement.

This partnership marks a significant milestone in building international bridges in the field of communication, providing students, scholars, and professionals with opportunities for academic enrichment, research advancement, and intercultural collaboration.
