Members of communication, extension, media and communication art faculty, professionals, industry and researchers felt for coming together to form a common country platform together for last fifty years. After many local, regional and domain specific formations, over last decade, the effort gained momentum.
As per the collective decision taken by a large assembly of media academics and professionals on two significant occasions — the International Conference on Media & Communication for Sustainable Development (2019) held at Santiniketan, and the National Media Conclave (2022) held at Bhubaneswar — a trust was conceptualized to establish a common national platform for faculty, professionals, and researchers across diverse domains of communication in India.
Consequently, the trust was formally registered at the Additional Registrar of Assurances III, Kolkata on 4th February 2023 under the name Nation Communication Congress Trust (NCCT), with its headquarters located at Santiniketan, West Bengal. This initiative was in direct response to the unanimous desire expressed by the august body present during the open session of the National Media Conclave 2022 to establish the Indian Communication Congress (ICC) as a representative national body in the field of communication studies.
