Workshop on Natyashastra in Indian Knowledge System

The workshop on Natyashastra in Indian Knowledge System was organized by Bharat Bodh Kendra and the Indian Communication Congress (ICC) at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi. The session explored the ancient Indian treatise on performing arts, Natyashastra, and its relevance within the broader Indian knowledge framework. Esteemed speakers include Prof. Biplab Loho Choudhury (Visva-Bharati & Chairman, ICC), Shri Bharat Gupt (Vice-Chairman, National School of Drama), Maya Kulshreshtra (Noted Kathak Exponent), and Dr. Rajni Rao (Faculty, Kathak Kendra). The workshop will be chaired by Prof. (Dr.) K.G. Suresh, Director, IHC. esteemed participants included K. J. Alphons( former union minister), Prof. J. Jethwani, Prof. Prof. F. B. Khan, Prof. S. Mukherjee, Dr. S. K. Dutta, S. Bhattacharjee along with several others from several states.

8th National Media Conclave 2024 – Plenary Session IV: Application and Use of AI in Newsrooms

Distinguished speakers include Shishir Sinha (Associate Editor, The Hindu Business Line), Prof. Dev Vrat Singh (Dean, School of Mass Communication & Media Tech., Central University of Jharkhand), and Sebabrata Banerjee (AI Consultant, Odisha Television Ltd.). The discussion is moderated by Dr. Santosh Ku. Biswal, Associate Professor, Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, RD Women’s University.

Young Communication Entrepreneurs’ Consultation, Santiniketan

The Young Communication Entrepreneurs’ Consultation was professional gathering organized under the Indian Communication Congress to mark its 3rd Foundation Day. Hosted at Visva-Bharati Samabay Samiti Hall, it offered consultation to five start-ups in advertising, branding, election management and development communication. Prof. Atish Parashar from South Bihar Central University Gaya was the key resource person aided by Snehasish Bardhan.The event brought together young minds, scholars, and practitioners to engage in discussions on communication, innovation, and entrepreneurship, fostering dialogue between theory, practice, and emerging ideas in the field of communication.

Media Education 2.0: Adapting Approaches to an Evolving Industry

As part of MoU, The Capacity Building Program on Media Education 2.0: Adapting Approaches to an Evolving Industry was organized in collaboration with Bridgewater State University (USA), and the Karnataka State Journalism and Communication Teachers Association (KSJCTA). Held at the Sheraton Grand Hotel, Yeshwanthpur, Bengaluru, the event focused on redefining media education in the context of emerging technologies and global industry shifts. Moderated by Prof. B. K. Ravi, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor and Executive Chairman of ICC, the session featured distinguished speakers including Frederick W. Clark Jr. and Paul Jean from BSU, Dr. Jakari Griffith, Dr. Jabbar Al-Obaidi, and several leading Indian media educators and professionals. Discussions centered on AI, AR/VR, data journalism, global engagement, and new pedagogical strategies to equip the next generation of media professionals for the digital age.

Third Foundation Day of Indian Communication Congress

St. Pauls College, Bengaluru, celebrated the Third Foundation Day of the Indian Communication Congress (ICC) with an engaging session highlighting the growth and contributions of the ICC in advancing communication studies across India. The event was graced by Prof. B. K. Ravi, Executive Chairman of ICC and Vice-Chancellor of Koppal University, Karnataka, and Dr. Uma Shama, Professor of Mathematics and Co-Director of GeoGraphics Lab, Bridgewater State University, Massachusetts, as Chief Guests. Under the patronage of Rev. Fr. Dr. Thomas MJ, Principal, and Rev. Fr. Dr. Shaiju Joseph, Vice Principal, the celebration brought together faculty, scholars, and students to reflect on the academic, cultural, and social impact of the ICC. The event was coordinated by Dr. Prashanth V and Ms. Anannya N K from the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication.

TechCLAVE’25 was the 2nd International Conference cum Conclave organized by the PG Department of Journalism & Communication, Dwaraka Doss Goverdhan Doss Vaishnav College (Autonomous), Chennai, in association with the Indian Communication Congress. Centered on the theme “Generations, Technology, Society, Spaces & Screens,” the conference brings together academicians, researchers, and practitioners to explore the evolving intersections of technology, media, and society through interdisciplinary dialogue and scholarly exchange. Prof. B. K. Ravi, Executive Chairman, ICC and Vice-Chancellor, Koppal University Karnataka inaugurated the conference. Prof. P. Mallick, Professor and Dean, PDPU, Gandhinagar gave a plenary lecture.

3rd Foundation Month Celebration of Indian Communication Congress, Delhi

The 3rd Foundation Month Celebration of the Indian Communication Congress held at Delhi College of Arts and Commerce, University of Delhi. The event featured the release of the first education policy of ICC report titled “Bharatiya Sancar Samaroh First Country Report on Communication and Media Education” Led by Prof. Saccidanand Mishra, former VC, Makhanlal Chaturvedi Rashtriya Patrakarita Vishwavidyalaya was present on the occasion. Prof. K. G. Suresh presided over the programme. ICC members from Delhi, Rajasthan, Haryana, West Bengal and Maharashtra joiined the programme. The programme brings together scholars, educators, and members to reflect on the future directions of communication and media education in India.

First Colloquium on Media Education Council of India proposal of ICC, Kolkata

The first state colloquium of the Indian Communication Congress was hosted by The Bhawanipur Education Society College. The topic for the Colloquium was 'Need For Communication & Media Education Council of India'. The dignitaries for the event included Prof. B.K. Ravi (Vice-Chancellor, Koppal University), Prof. Partha Chattopadhyay (Noted litterateur, author, and media academician), Prof. Biplab Loha Chowdhury (Professor, Visva-Bharati), Prof. Buroshiva Dasgupta (Dean, Sister Nivedita University), Prof. Atish Parashar (Professor, Central University of South Bihar). Prof. Loha Chowdhury talked about the importance of media education and the threats of technology. Prof. Ravi stressed on the importance of strengthening media education to produce better-trained media professionals. Prof. Chattopaadhyaay emphasized on the need for standardization of media education possible and incorporation of AI in future media courses. Prof. Dasgupta highlighted the need for a better industry-academia interface. Prof. Parashar reminded the audience that the media is just no longer limited to journalists and editors now and stressed on broadening the horizons of media education in India. An interactive session with the audience, which included media students, academics and professionals, drew more insights on the issue. The Colloquium brought to fore the pressing need for establishing a new media regulatory body in India to meet the challenges of the newage Indian media and the possible roadmap and challenges on the way.
